Profanity filter for Peacock on Apple TV

Peacock has a Kids profile and nothing between that and the full catalog. CleanCut adds the in-between: the whole on-demand library, with the swearing muted, inside the Peacock app.

What changes

Peacock on its own, and with CleanCut

Peacock on its own

Peacock has a Kids profile that restricts the catalog by rating, and a PIN to leave it. Like every rating gate, it decides whether a title plays at all. It cannot quiet one line inside a film you have already chosen to watch.

With CleanCut

  • Profanity muted, or skipped past, line by line as it plays
  • Your own word list: switch off words you don't mind, and changes apply mid-episode
  • Works on Premium with ads; Mic Sync on Pro re-aligns the filter after a break if it drifts
  • No Peacock login inside CleanCut, and no CleanCut account
  • Same Peacock app, same subscription, same remote. Nothing cast, nothing re-encoded, nothing installed on the TV.

Covered in Peacock

  • Peacock's on-demand films and series, including originals
  • Content on the ad-supported Premium plan, with Mic Sync to re-align after a break if needed
  • Muting or skipping profanity, line by line, on your word list

Not covered

  • Live sports and live channels. The NFL, Premier League, and Peacock's live streams have no subtitle file to filter from, and the language in them is unscripted.
  • Violence or nudity. CleanCut reads dialogue, not the picture.

Setting it up

  1. Install CleanCut on the iPhone or iPad you keep near the TV, on the same Wi-Fi as the Apple TV.
  2. Open it, pick your Apple TV, and type in the code that appears on the television. Once.
  3. Choose whether profanity is muted or skipped, and switch off any words you don’t mind hearing. Changes apply mid-episode.
  4. Press play in Peacock. Nothing to configure in Peacock. Pair CleanCut with the Apple TV once and press play as usual.

Filtering Peacock is part of CleanCut Plus and Pro. YouTube and Plex are free, so you can try the filter on either before paying for anything. Pricing has the details.

Questions about Peacock

Does CleanCut filter live sports on Peacock?

No, and no app of this kind can. A live broadcast has no script and no subtitle file ahead of time, and a hot mic on the sideline is not something a filter can predict. Peacock's on-demand catalog is covered.

Does it work on Peacock Premium with ads?

Yes. The subtitle file is timed to the show, so an ad break can push the filter slightly early or late until playback settles. Mic Sync on the Pro plan corrects that by listening for a few seconds; the manual timing control is on every plan.

Do I need a Peacock login in CleanCut?

No. There is nothing to sign in to on CleanCut's side, and no CleanCut account either. You sign in to Peacock on the Apple TV exactly as you do today.
